Anne Frank

Born Annelies Marie Frank in Frankfurt and raised in Amsterdam, Anne Frank hid with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. She was arrested in 1944 and died in Bergen-Belsen in 1945; her diary, preserved by family friends and published after the war, made her internationally famous.
